Butcher Box FAQ

 1) How does the Butcher Box subscription work?

The B & B Ranch Butcher Box is shipped by monthly subscription in weights of either seven or 14 pounds.

Sign up, and every month you receive either seven or 14 pounds of frozen, but utterly fresh meats, right after we get them back from the butcher

Subscriptions are available either for 3, 6 or 12 months. Gift subscriptions are also available and gift recipients will be invited to continue any subscription once the gift subscription is completed.

*Subscribers who are not Ranch Members will need to purchase the Buyers Club Membership before purchasing their first subscription.

2) What Can I expect in my box?

B & B Ranch's Chef Mark hand selects the contents of each box so that every subscriber gets a variety of Piedmontese Beef, whole free-range roaster chickens, and cuts of fresh Berkshire pork. Contents of each box will vary - even within a given month. But every subscriber is guaranteed to receive far more than the same money would buy at a truly world-class butcher shop - if you could find one.

Shipments will typically include some of the following.

Grass-Fed Piedmontese Beef:

  •  Beef Roasts
  • Standing Rib Roast
  • Brisket
  • Rump
  • Round Tip
  • Chuck
  • Filets
  • Rib eye teaks
  • NY Strip steaks
  • T-Bone steaks
  • Sirloin steaks
  • Round steaks

  • Skirt steaks

3) Can I choose what's shipped in my Butcher Box?

No. Here's why.

Every shipment is based on what comes back from the butcher. Every animal contains a limited number of each cut, and by allowing subscribers to choose, we'd quickly run out of only the most popular cuts. That would leave most subscribers terribly dissatisfied and it would give an unfair advantage to those who contacted us first. We work hard to make sure that every subscriber is better than satisfied with a Butcher Box that's never quite the same, but that's always loaded with value.

4) Why should I buy from B & B Ranch?

B & B Ranch offers only quality grass-fed Piedmontese beef, heritage Berkshire pork and free range chicken products. Our Spanish Goat herd is unique in the area and offers some of the only mail order goat meat products on the Internet.

With a firm commitment to sustainable and humane animal husbandry, we're unique in the market. B & B Ranch is also committed to the people, customers, neighbors and friends who make up our larger community. We'll be thrilled to meet you.

5) Do you sell anything besides meat?

Our online sales also offer limited quantities of the homemade pasta and the renowned marinara Sauce Box.  Though the Ranch does produce some other products, these are only available to area buyers (wholesalers) and are not normally sold to consumers.

The Ranch also invites guests to sample our cooking, at the Ranch, which relies on locally produced artisanal and seasonal ingredients.

6) What about the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee?

Customers who are not pleased with the shipment they receive need only telephone the Ranch and they will be refunded 100%.

7) What about the RETURNS POLICY?

Because the items we ship are perishable, we cannot accept returns. We will however refund your order or replace any specific items that arrive damaged or otherwise inedible. Of course, we are happy to hear any of your concerns about any shipment.

8) Are your farm and the products you sell "Certified Organic"?

B & B Ranch is not certified organic and we do not claim or label our products as "organic". However we far exceed the standards of industrial and mass-farming operations. All of the butchering facilities meet USDA standards for handling and preparation.

9) How are the meats packaged for shipping?

All cuts of meat are vacuum packaged and then frozen to maximize freshness. Shipping boxes are insulated and reusable frozen gel packs accompany each shipment. The gel packs keep everything cold for a maximum 5-day shipping period. All Butcher Boxes are shipped by 2-Day shipping but the gel packs are designed to allow for up to a three day delay.

10) Are your meats USDA inspected?

Yes. For us to sell interstate, all products must be inspected by the USDA. However, we feel confident that the quality of any product you receive from us will far exceed the quality of similar products available at your grocery store or from a commercial butcher.

11) Will you ship internationally?

No. We will only accept orders for shipment within the continental US.

12)  When are shipments made?

Butcher Boxes are shipped monthly, on the Monday following the Credit Card charge. This charge is made on the 12th of each month. Subscribers receive email notifications when their Butcher Boxes are shipped each month.

13) How much does the shipping cost?

Because you're buying a subscription, the shipping cost is included in the cost of the subscription. The same holds true for sales taxes. It's all included.
